Our Story

The Beautiful Me Campaign was founded in 2013 by Molly Jean McElroy. Molly wanted to help people struggling with eating disorders and negative body image find a path to recovery—just as she did.

This program was created because of the healing power of horses and the impact they have on self-discovery. Beautiful Me is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing individuals with a unique approach to personal growth. By incorporating Equine Assisted Support, the program helps participants build confidence, find inner strength, and reconnect with their true selves.

In 2013, Molly McElroy recognized the need for a supportive and holistic approach to eating disorder recovery. Having experienced firsthand the challenges of negative body image and self-doubt, she was determined to create a program that would empower others on their journey to healing. With a deep appreciation for the therapeutic bond between humans and horses, Molly established Beautiful Me as a 501(3)(c) nonprofit. The organization was built on the belief that self-discovery, guided by the presence of horses, can help individuals regain confidence, develop resilience, and embrace their own unique beauty.

Today, Beautiful Me continues to inspire and support those seeking recovery through equine assisted activities and community outreach.

Services we offer

Community Outreach

Outreach is at the heart of our mission as we strive to educate the community about eating disorders, their prevention, and the importance of self-love. Through workshops, events, and conversations, we provide valuable resources to help individuals develop a healthier relationship with food and their bodies. Joining our founder, Molly, on these outreach adventures is Banks, a dedicated therapy dog who offers emotional support and unconditional love. With Banks by our side, we create a warm and compassionate space where people feel safe, heard, and empowered on their journey to self-acceptance.

Speeches

Our motivational speeches are a powerful and heartfelt experience, as Molly shares her personal journey of resilience and healing. She opens up about her struggles with an eating disorder, learning disability, self-harm, and depression, offering an inspiring story of overcoming adversity. With honesty and courage, she reflects on the past trauma that shaped her into the woman she is today, emphasizing the strength she found through her recovery. Horses played a significant role in her healing, serving as a source of comfort and inspiration. Through her story, Molly not only educates others on the importance of seeking help but also empowers them to believe in their own ability to heal and grow.

Equine Assisted Support

Equine-assisted support offers a unique and transformative approach to eating disorder recovery, allowing participants to build deep, healing connections with horses. Through guided interactions, individuals learn to develop trust, confidence, and self-awareness, fostering a stronger sense of self-love and acceptance. Horses provide a non-judgmental and intuitive presence, helping participants process emotions, overcome body image struggles, and build healthier relationships with themselves and others. This powerful experience encourages personal growth, resilience, and a renewed appreciation for both mental and physical well-being, making equine-assisted support a valuable tool in the journey toward recovery.
